Gender and Power: How to Understand Their Abuses
A study group led by Jane Kristal, Ph.D.
This meeting is a follow-up to the lively discussions we’ve had this fall, provoked by listening to two of Esther Perel’s couples therapy podcasts.
We are currently being bombarded daily by revelations of workplace harassment and the abuse of women. Why is it that such behavior is endemic in work situations and beyond? Are these kinds of behaviors inevitable when power relations are unequal? What are the contributions of culture, class, color, gender, even genetics? These are among the questions we will attempt to address in the evening’s discussion. Understanding that this topic deals with sensitive issues and emotional states, we will make every attempt to maintain a safe and open space as we share our thoughts.
There will be no CECs offered for this study group.
This event is for WMAAPP members only. If you wish to bring a guest, or for further information, please contact Patricia Everett at (413) 256-3539.
